California Canines Get Ready to Hang Ten...or 20!

The unofficial end of summer has passed but don't tell that to the really rad Rovers who will soon rally at Del Mar Dog Beach for a day filled with sunshine and surfing in support of a paws cause.

On September 13th the Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon and Beach Day will celebrate a decade of dogged devotion to the life-changing efforts of the Helen Woodward Animal Center.  Pet parent and their pups are invited to watch totally tubular tail-waggers hang 20 during 10 minute heats in different weight divisions.  Along with the chance to win a medal, all of the dogs participating will win the admiration of attendees as they raise funds to help homeless canines and cats.

Making a big splash this year, budding Moondoggies can also show off their skills in the surf during the Paddle Paws SUP Challenge.  Registered adults and canine-loving kids will help Fidos make their way through a four-part obstacle course complete with a floating tunnel and inflatables.

Other activities include a canine costume contest, a Paddle Paws parade, fun for animal-loving little ones, the chance to shop for Spot among an array of vendor booths, and much more!

A happening with a lot of heart, the 10th annual Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon benefits the Helen Woodward Animal Center, a 12-acre no-kill facility in Rancho Santa Fe, California founded more than 40 years ago, which helped 3,181 dogs and cats find forever pet parents to love in 2014.
